11th-May-2012 07:16 pm - lj_swedish - needing new management?
aeon flux hope
Unsure where to post this, if not here. But here goes!

I helped translate Swedish for a bit, got busy with other things and was removed, but am now ready to get back to translating. However it seems neither [info]bjorng that headed [info]lj_swedish before, nor predecessor [info]cactus_waltz are around anymore? Both of their journals have not been updated for some time. I messaged both but no response :/

EDIT: [info]bjorng replied, but said he cannot handle translation access.

So I suppose we need to start with assigning a more active maintainer for [info]lj_swedish, and then we'll be able to handle ourselves?

11th-Aug-2011 09:56 pm - Translation Privileges?
greyscale, movement, blur, grey
Hi! I'd like to translate for Chinese Simplified, but I've posted to the lj_zhongwen community and there doesn't seem to be any admins there who can give me translation privileges. There doesn't seem to be many people working on translating for Chinese at the moment.

Is there anyone around who could give me translation privileges for Chinese? Thank you very much!

Could someone tell me how do I save the changes made in the translation page? The 'save' button appears, but you can't click it, do you know what I mean?

Hey,

I didn't get extended paid account time this month, wondering if anyone has the same problem?

Thanks :)
4th-Mar-2011 11:00 pm - Russian text on homepage
a_ezio_crossed_arms
There is Russian text on the users' personal homepage: "еще" in the games section and "Обновления для" in the title of the second box on the right hand side. According to [info]viverrida the texts mean "more" and "news for" respectively.
I tried to find them via the language editor, but no luck.

Could someone please change them?
28th-Jan-2011 11:16 am - Hello LiveJournal!
Hello LiveJournal,

I would like to translate LiveJournal into Turkish, I'm being glad as a member of lj_translate. But still I can't translate LiveJournal. Please give me a translator status, also I'm the moderator of LiveJournal Turkish Translation Community (lj_turkish).

And people translated only a few things in my native language, Turkish.

Hello translators!

I have a bit of extra time this week, so since the translation team doesn't have a dedicated staff contact and we don't have a lot of activity recently, I'm just poking around and seeing what I can do to help you. I've added a few new members too: welcome to the new folk!

1) Is the information in our Getting Started tutorial still accurate? I know it's old, but our tools haven't changed much. (Is anyone interested, perhaps, in making a new version of that page?)

2) I've filed a number of Jira tickets (Jira is LiveJournal's bug-tracking database) regarding translation: fixing that thing where the severity gets reset if we edit a typo out of en_LJ, making it so that the current en_LJ string pulls through if there's no translation (instead of whatever horrid first draft we had in there!), and also to get more useful statistics about activity. Right now, we do have statistics of who last edited in a translation, but only on FAQs.

3) As you may be aware, those FAQs are getting a lot of edits, mostly to make them easier to understand and include search engine keywords. We'll have more information for you in a few weeks, so please reserve your panic till then! (I'm actually walking into a meeting about this right now.) So if you're setting up priorities on which areas of the site to work on, I'd advise focusing on site strings rather than FAQs, unless of course the FAQ is very very wrong in your language. :)

4) If you want to leave translation, please let me know. If you want to join any translation, please let me know! If you're the sole translator and you don't have maintainership of your community, or if there are people you want to add or remove from the team, I can help.

Per discussion with LJ people, "yes" and "no" in that string are actually labels for radio buttons, and should be translated to whichever you used for those (I think the actual button labels come from /abuse/report.bml.yes and /abuse/report.bml.no, but I'm waiting for confirmation on that). That message gets displayed when you didn't click either button, eg in the "Invasion of privacy" category on the abuse report form.
19th-Jun-2010 02:50 am - The User Activity Panel

In the newly added User Activity Panel on the right side of the homepage,
"Updates for" seems to be displayed in Russian except in en_LJ and en_GB.

Could you please fix it... or has Russian became the default language of LJ? :P

Thank you in advance!

Some strings, like shop.view.wallet.confirm_xfer, have variables in them that are expanded in JS, not on the server. Thus, the variable names aren't wrapped in [[ ]]. This isn't a typo. Also, there's no pluralization support in the JS librairies we use, so we may to live with the occasional "1 tokens" in those cases.

Unrelatedly: if you've seen English plural strings with 3 forms (like [[?tokens|token|tokens|tokens]]), pretend they have the usual 2 forms ([[?tokens|token|tokens]]). Unless they cause incorrect rendering, they're not worth reporting.

Background for both: http://community.livejournal.com/changelog/8637692.html

I'm not sure what "Use the settings of publication posts" is supposed to mean. I suspect "Configure options for posting entries", but that sounds kinda removed from the original text. Anyone used that application and can elaborate?
23rd-Feb-2010 12:34 pm - Question
Anna
How do I translate the emails that can be sent to users? For example, account expiration warnings or lost passwords. How do you find it on the translation tool search?

Thanks in advance
25th-Nov-2009 11:26 am - Paid account expired

There's something very wrong in the current translation % completed right now. :-)

These URLs (http://g.msn.com/0TO_/enus and http://g.msn.com/2privacy/enus) are used in /messenger/index.bml.msn_accept, widget.liveid.accept_agreement, and widget.msmessengerregister.msn_accept (and maybe other strings - those are the ones I'm aware of). The enus at the end of those URLs stands for "en(glish) US", and you can replace it with the language and country codes appropriate for your translation (check that they work - I can't check them all). Examples: http://g.msn.com/0TO_/frfr (French - France) and http://g.msn.com/2privacy/frca (French - Canada).
